King of Swords
"Seated with the sword upright, the king judges with mind over impulse: the authority of reason and truth."
Upright meaning
The King of Swords is mastery of the mind placed in the service of justice: he thinks clearly, decides ethically, and rules with truth out front. He is the judge, the strategist, the impartial counselor who separates facts from emotions. His authority comes not from force, but from reason well used.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, reason turns tyrant. Authoritarianism, coldness, arguments used to manipulate, or a heartless logic that crushes instead of guiding. The judge becomes a despot.
In love
A clear, honest, rational presence. Reversed, beware of coldness or of always needing to be right.
In work and money
Leadership based on logic, ethics and strategy. They seek you for your fair judgment and clarity.
The card's advice
Rule with reason in the service of justice: a mind without ethics only sharpens the sword of power.
